Tuesdays are great. You know why they're great? Because it's Cheap Movies Day!!!
Movies are usually $11.99 but on Tuesdays, its $7.99. Ain't that great :D
So I went with two other friends to watch Iron Man 3 and The Great Gatsby.
Can I just say that I have a super soft spot for all the Marvel movies??? Ok, it may just be me swooning over the actors playing them but I also genuinely enjoy them!
I went into the movie with no real expectations, I've only seen the trailers for it and that was the only thing I was going into the movie with.
Went into the movie and came out thoroughly satisfied. LOVED IT. It was engaging, and I was on the edge of my seat in some parts, and I really liked Ty Simpkins' role. And seeing how badly New York affected Tony Stark killed me... poor guy!
All in all, the effects were amazing (I watched the BTS stuff and wow technology has come a long way), the story was good, and humour was awesome as usual. The little scene after the credits was so adorable too! ;) I cannot wait for the upcoming Marvel movies so I can delve back into the whole universe.
After getting out of the theatre for Iron Man 3, we headed into The Great Gatsby. But not before I totally got a picture with my favourite: Owen Wilson. I just adore him, and I don't care what others have to say about that!
Anyways, after my little pic, we settled down for the movie. Somehow I made it through high school without have ever reading the book, so I had no idea what to really expect in terms of plot. The trailer really does not give anything away except, ya know? It was all glitz and music haha. But I liked how they narrated the plot with Nick in the sanitarium and getting it all out. It definitely helped me get deeper into the plot. But ugh, I now understand why my brother said he hated the book when he had to read it for Grade 12 English. It sort of gave me the feeling of desperation, sadness, and uselessness. That movie definitely killed every sort of excitement and high I had coming out of Iron Man 3. It was so heartbreaking! It was a great movie, but I would never be able to watch it a second time. It was directed and designed beautifully though. I just love the fashion of the 20s with all the lace, fringe, and structured hairstyles. The music was stellar with amazing artists - I especially loved Where The Wind Blows and A Little Party Never Killed Nobody.
It was a great night, with great friends, and I can't wait to see what the rest of Summer 2013 has to offer!
